Inspirational Woman of the Quarter: Sarah Fisher

Sarah Fisher, Inspirational Woman of the Quarter March 2018. Authored by Samantha Massey, Franchise Launch Manager at SDL Property Partners.

29.03.2018

I recall in 2008, meeting an ambitious, young 18-year-old woman named Sarah Fisher. Sarah joined Willmotts Chartered Surveyors as a receptionist, but the directors soon noticed her talents and within six months she transferred to the property management team. I had the pleasure of working with and watching Sarah develop over the course of four years.

In 2012, Sarah made a life changing decision to take ‘a year out’ in Australia. She says, “I needed to get out into the real world for a while, do things on my own terms and find out what I really wanted out of life.”

Australia is a huge and expensive country, luckily the working holiday visa scheme allowed Sarah to take a holiday and make some money to fund her travels. She spent the next year doing a whole range of things whilst working on a travelling fun fair, constructing and operating rides such as the bumper cars. One year, turned into 3 and Sarah finally returned to the UK for her brother’s wedding in 2015.

She was initially concerned that there may be obstacles with her returning to the sector after an extended period away. She quickly realised though, as a skilled property manager, taking time out wasn’t as issue at all. It wasn’t long before she started working for RMG, as a property manager and because of her dedication she was then asked to join the new business team, managing new build estates.

“Being a property manager was hard work, but I was good at it and valued.”

In 2017 Sarah began her master’s degree in property management and investment at De Montford University.

During her time at RMG, Sarah has consistently gone beyond what is asked of her and has recently been promoted to a Senior Property Manager.

These days, work-life balance can seem like an impossible feat, but Sarah likes to spend her spare time practising aerial fitness, performing aerial acrobatics while hanging from silks and aerial hoops, where she performs techniques on a suspended hula hoop.

I’m exhausted just looking at her pictures…

Sarah is a positive role model within the industry and is a great example to us all that if you have a little voice in the back of your mind saying, “Maybe I could do [fill in the blank],” don’t tell it to be quiet. Give it a little room to grow.

“Working with Sarah was an absolute privilege and a highlight of my career. It has made me realise the sincerity and loyalty in her. Sarah is an inspiration not only to me but to many. Her dedication and commitment to her clients, colleagues and contractors is exemplary. Sarah always goes above and beyond of what is required and that is proven in her recent commitment to unforeseen circumstances on one of her flagship developments. Sarah always brightens everyone’s day in the office and always puts a smile on everyone’s face. I could not be more proud of her for being recognised as an inspirational woman” Chloe Harris, Client Accountant, Warwick Estates
